I THINK LIKE A DESIGNHER! The journey begins! Module One takes you through the different ways to curate your ideas and how to develop and articulate your own unique style. You’ll learn about the philosophy of design and how to better document and map out your unique vision.

I SEE MY VISION AND CAN COMMUNICATE IT! In this module, it’s all about getting your vision out of your head and communicating in a way that leaves nothing to interpretation and everything accounted for. This is often an overlooked part of the process and can cost you thousands lost to miscommunication, back and forth with suppliers, incorrect measurements and forgotten KEY elements that account for the space and joinery.

I CAN SEE A RAINBOW! Welcome to the fun of colour theory and psychology. Learn how different colours make us feel, how to work colours together and how to create your own signature palette. Dive into materials and learn how to think about buildability, how to test materials for durability and longevity and how to deal with wastage – a huge contributor to budget blowout.

I SEE THE LIGHT! It’s all about light theory in Module 4. We’ll cover the types of lighting and how to map out and plan the lighting for your space. You’ll also learn how to communicate what you want and when in the process to start thinking about lighting to showcase different areas of the space you are creating. We’ll show you how to leverage and maximise natural light to change the look and feel and even perceived size of a room and how to focus attention on specific furnishings or collections by directing light toward them.

MY DREAM INTERIOR WITHIN MY BUDGET! This is where the rubber really hits the road with access to our own private Little Black Book of suppliers and trade discounts. We’ll have you documenting your plans like a pro in no time so you can create timeless spaces without the budget blowout. We’ll teach you how to program your plans with digital tools and take your through costing templates step by step to help you save every single step of the way.

ADDING THE FINISHING TOUCHES! You’ve built the structure, lit your space and now it’s time to furnish! Our industry experts will take you step-by-step through artwork curation and selection, furniture choices based on scale, size and room orientation. We’ll even show you how to style your shelves to show off that curated collection you’ve created in the chicest possible way.

has been working with BuildHer Collective since October 2021 as an Interior Designer. She primarily helps people have who have just bought their first investment property. Her focus is to create special moments within the house by adding tweaks & design flare to make it the best possible outcome for its inhabitants. Working with the BuildHer team motivates her to be the best version of herself.

Holding a Degree in Architecture & more recently completed a Diploma of Building & Construction she is passionate about positively contributing to the Melbourne streetscape. She is working to achieve her end goal to build for profit. Whilst creating beautiful yet functional homes that will stand the test of time.

is the creative director behind R&Co.Design.Studio – a company specialising in joinery design and hard surface materials helping clients realise their whole home interiors. In addition to running R&Co.Design.Studio, Rachel will say her most important and enjoyable role is being mum to 3 young boys–Luca 10, Rafael 9 and Mateo 8 – who obviously keep her super busy.

She is also passionate about developing properties to showcase her own projects as well as working closely with other businesses on design partnerships, podcasts and collaborations to stay abreast of the design industry.

With a background in interior decoration and property styling, Melanie has always had an interest in property and design. She spends (probably too much, according to Mel) time looking through Realestate.com and she loves visiting furniture stores, flooring or tile galleries – you name it!

She’s worked for BuildHer for the past 18 months and loves seeing what all the amazing BuildHers are up to and helping out with their queries, where possible. “I really enjoy having a vision for a project and seeing it come to life through textiles and furniture.”

is a Melbourne based Interior Decorator. Her strengths lie in using colour, furniture, art, objects and soft furnishings to create personalised spaces that are layered, approachable and enduring. Colour is an important element of her practice where she believes it is the essential ingredient in underpinning a feeling in a home.

After ditching the corporate finance world in her late 20s to get a real job, Alison’s career includes award-winning interior design, property styling, editorial styling and as the General Manager of a local homewares brand.

In early 2020 Alison put her big girl pants on and started her business, Alison Lewis interiors where she designs and project manages her own developments, along with design consulting and coaching for home-owners and interior designers alike. Her collaborative approach has allowed her to form networks within the design and building industry and share her varied and vast experience with others.

Dylan is a Melbourne based interior, architectural and lifestyle photographer whose work you’ve likely seen in one of our publications. Starting out as a real estate photographer, he developed a love for architecture and design and began capturing homes in a less traditional way, which is one of the reasons we’re so lucky to have him.
