Renovations come in all different shapes and sizes. Some projects can be done as a DIY, whereas other projects might require you to engage an engineer, draftsperson, building designer or all of the above. So how do you know what to do and who to call?
In this episode, Matt shares his advice as an experienced builder on the best way to approach a renovation. He talks about identifying the key factors in your project, including your budget, and why he advocates for getting in touch with a builder from the get go.
No two builders are the same, and Matt shares his tips on how to best prepare for a consultation with a building professional about your project. We talk about being clear on what you want, and also being open to new ideas. Get those Pinterest boards ready!
At the end of the day, you are the only one who will drive your project forward and that might involve you having to make some awkward phone calls and ask a bunch of questions. It’s really about doing your research and your due diligence to make sure you’re going in the right direction.
The best thing you can do is get the right industry professionals involved from the very beginning. Engaging with a builder is a great place to start to help get you on the right track.
