WELCOME TO SEASON 4 | EPISODE 40
Making your home built for health
WITH BUILDING BIOLOGIST, MEGAN ZIGOMANIS
WOULD YOU LIKE TO REDUCE THE RISK OF HARMFUL TOXINS IN YOUR HOME?
If you’re renovating or designing a new home, this is a perfect opportunity to look at how you can reduce the risk of harmful toxins so that your home is a healthier living environment.
IN THIS PODCAST WE ARE TALKING ABOUT
Today I’m chatting with Megan Zigomanis, a certified Building Biologist who runs her own consulting business, Built For Health. Her job is to look at the numerous hazards of the built environment, how they affect occupants’ health and provide solutions to help reduce the risks.
We talk about the main areas to think about, including air and water pollution, mould, moisture and condensation, electro magnetic fields (EMFs) and environmental hazards surrounding the home. Megan shares some of the ways these hazards can be reduced by incorporating ventilation, appropriate drainage, and using different building materials to help combat EMF exposure. We talk about how we need to become more aware of the risks of EMF exposure such as wi-fi, and the impact this is making on our health.
It can be overwhelming to think about all the potential hazards and toxins in and around the home, so knowing what areas you should focus on is really helpful. Megan shares her top 5 areas she looks at when assessing a home and some practical tips to start reducing the risks of toxins in your home.
